Ohh, okay! I was like "sounds like something Sims related".Klomonx wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 2:07 amits two ways of rendering hair in 3D games/etc.
You can either make it using alphas (bits of transparency) which generally give a more realistic look, but it can age poorly, or make it as a solid piece, making it look more like it was sculpted. This is far more cartoony, but often ages better. Although I like both, I think clay hair is better for the Sims and tend to like to use it more than Alpha Hair.
Recentish Alpha Hair Games: FFXIV, Sims 2, Sims 3 (which I think isnt aging well), MGR:R
Clay Hair: Sims 4, Persona 5.

LOL yeah, in Sims terms "Alpha CC" has come to mean ultra realistic. Some folks are ride or die by it, I've come to realize I really hate it LOL and prefer my games looking less realisticLukrietz wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 2:26 amOhh, okay! Its so funny of the ol big three only OP remains both as still running but like. As any good.
Yeah... idk Naruto never grabbed me much, maybe I shouldn't shit on it so much since I never watched/read a ton of it, but I feel like it's not as impactful in the long run as many other shounens. I'm not as into Dragon Ball as I was as a kid, and I know a lot of it has to do with nostalgia, but I feel like it has more worth than Naruto, if only because it was so influential. But I can't deny DB is more shallow than say, HxH.

I strongly recommend not going full vegan, but I am very biased. Things like eggs, Peanut Butter, etc. can really help with keeping your vitamins up that can be hard to get otherwise. I think my mum is similar, but also I just don't like most vegetables...I just taste grass or bitterness and often hate them even MORE if they're cooked because then they're mush, spices or no. I also think it's just our culture; we don't use vegetables the same way as other cultures, so they don't taste as good. But I've tried various veggies and various ways and I just. Hate them all. (As far as like. Green ones go. I like Potatoes but like that's BARELY a veggie). You're also out in the country, so there's not as much mixing of cultures; I can get a variety of foods where I am (though even then I'm limited in many respects. But I've tried curry twice now and Hated It even though I liked all the ingredients on paper?).Lukrietz wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 6:12 pm Seriously considering learning/trying out more vegetarian/vegan recipes. It's so hard tho having been brought up in a family where pretty much.. every day of the week we have dinner where there's some kind of meat. And I wouldn't say my mum's a bad cook, but what we eat is pretty limited and I think I'm just tired of the typical Swedish meals. It's not that they're bad per se but there's other stuff I like more.
But yeah it's made me realise that I don't really think my mum, or my dad for that matter lmao, know how to cook with vegetables and make them tasty... I don't either ofc. I've gotten slightly better at eating vegetables in recent years but I want to try out more stuff. Might not like everything but I'd at least want to try some vegetarian/vegan stuff. I just don't know where to start. Also if i start eating less meat, maybe even go vegetarian, I'd have to think about how I might not get all vitamins etc that I need, I think there's one kind of B vitamin that's difficult to get from non-animal products, but that might just be if you go full vegan? Have to look into it.
I just feel so bad eating chicken in particular, I think they're the animal that's treated the worst, at least in Sweden. So I'd like to at least cut down on that. I'm not sure if me eating less meat will have any effect on like, gas emissions or anything, I'd mostly do this for my own conscience's sake.
I won't judge others who eat meat, we do what we gotta do to survive. Being a picky eater doesn't help, so I def understand people who keep doing it. But I want to at least try to broaden my horizons.
Interestingly, I see Naruto in particular being the favorite of black americans who enjoy anime/manga! I wonder why it stands out as the favorite compared to the others (DBZ is also very popular).Lukrietz wrote: ↑Thu Aug 17, 2023 5:57 pmYeah... idk Naruto never grabbed me much, maybe I shouldn't shit on it so much since I never watched/read a ton of it, but I feel like it's not as impactful in the long run as many other shounens. IDK I don't think I can try to justify it other than I simply don't like it LOL.

Also because you tend to be anemic I'd strongly look into what else you can eat, because the biggest source of things to help with that are red meat (steak etc).
Chicken is definitely treated poorly here, too, but it's also one of my safe foods. My diet is so limited I couldn't survive, vegetables are so difficult for me to enjoy in any capacity. I also have strong dislike for a lot of vegan talking points; they're often inaccurate or just. Awful. Like lol vegan leather lol dont use wool! Fam what the fuck are you talking about, Im very vegan biased, I admit, but it's frustrating when false talking points are used constantly. Here, of course, being vegan is also much much more expensive.
It's better to try and go local so you know how the animals are being treated, if at all possible. Here...it really isn't for me, being in the city.
Of course I support whatever you do, I just want you to be healthy and not like...get so stressed about eating meat that it affects your health? I also know you'd not be one of the vegans I've dealt with in my past but i have my scars U_U. I think my tone is more negative than I intend it to be; if I could sustain myself without meat I very much would too for similar reasons, but, I just don't like vegetables enough to survive on only them, and no meat replacement is really worth it to me especially as it always costs more.
EDIT x43935394: I want you to be happy and Im always for you broadening your horizons! I sound so fucking negative, I just have issues with the Vegan Community as a whole due to misinformation (and bleedover into PETA and shit)

You dont have to quit drinking the raspberry drink, orange juice is generally the one I think of for vitamin c, though.Lukrietz wrote: ↑Fri Aug 18, 2023 1:38 pmNahh you're fine, I also have bad experiences with vegans.Klomonx wrote: ↑Fri Aug 18, 2023 3:27 amI strongly recommend not going full vegan, but I am very biased. I don't think I could go fully vegan, but as I said, I want to at least try things and try to eat less meat. But yeah, the anemic thing is a worry for sure. I think it's been a lot better since I don't bleed once a month anymore, but it's def something I'd have to be careful about. Apparently adding some C-vitamin in the form of juice or pressing a lemon over your food when it's vegan helps with the iron intake, but I HATE adding citrus to meals. Juice I can drink but I drink a raspberry drink which I'm not sure has C-vitamin, but it has several others, added vitamins and I'm like... I don't want to stop drinking it. :c (first world problems)
Yeah I've been looking into like, local produced stuff, I need to talk to mum if we can buy locally produced meat from good places but ofc, that stuff is more expensive so I don't expect us to get a lot of it. But like maybe buy a bit sometimes... I've also wanted to get eggs from free roaming chickens OUTDOORS, not INDOORS, for like, decades it feels like but again, more expensive and parents don't buy it.
But yeah like. It is a struggle. I think I will ask dad to buy some tofu and I'll try that out - I've had it a couple of times from a chinese/asian food place and I thought it was fine, so I'd like to try it in some of the meals I make.
I'm so for lab grown meat, but OF COURSE there are people who fearmonger about it and are like 'JUST IMAGINE ALL THE SHIT THEY MIGHT PUT IN THAT MEAT' which is like............. do you really think... that is not the case with all the mass-produced "natural" meat you put in your body on a daily basis? Like fucking steroids and shit that they put in the animals.
It's like, if we didn't live in a capitalist society, and meat wasn't such a.. fucked up industry, I wouldn't feel so bad about eating meat. I might still feel a bit bad sometimes, but if the animal has lived a good life and has been put down in a quick and painless way, without fear, it's more a part of a natural cycle? Idk if I could ever live with animals that are bound for slaughter because I think it'd get... too close, idk. I guess people get used to it? Or they keep a distance from the animals? Like I can't imagine snuggling with a chicken and then the next day killing and eating it.
Thinking on it, its probably the most accessible in dub form.Lukrietz wrote: ↑Fri Aug 18, 2023 1:39 pmHuuuh!! I just Googled, raspberries have more vitamin c than strawberries.Lukrietz wrote: ↑Fri Aug 18, 2023 1:57 pm I know strawberries are a great source for vitamin C, but I wasn't sure about raspberries, and it didn't say vitamin C on the carton as far as I could tell.I always thought of raspberries and strawberries as being closely related but I might be wrong about that.
I can understand both camps. I hope I don't come off as too annoying when I ship characters - as someone who's bi I can say that shipping characters sometimes can be nice because, well, there still isn't great representation out there, and I'm all for people having headcanons whether it be trans, bi, ace, what have you. Because at the end of the day it isn't a big deal. Sucks when people fucking... start shipping wars or whatever tho.Klomonx wrote: ↑Fri Aug 18, 2023 4:19 am idk man if you think only romantic relationships can save someone you're limiting yourself and your understanding so much. Platonic relationships can also save you. Your relationship with yourself can save you.
Im so tired of romance stories having this thread of saving, and I know this puts me at odds with everyone. I understand that like, mainstream LGBT+ stories need to be told and often they're going to have this thread but I can ALSO feel hurt and generally dislike them because of their romantic content. I hate it.
I hate the romantic end all be all. I hate that its so accepted to kick your friends out of your life for a partner. I hate that seeing shit as platonic is seen as homophobic like fam we're LGBT TOO! Why cant these two interpretations exist? Why can't I dislike something? Even in stories where I can see and enjoy a platonic savior theres almost always a romance there somewhere that fucks it up for me (LOTR comes to mind first). Sometimes I wonder if Utena were better if Anthy and Wakaba were the same character. Like, we dont see Utena and Anthy act as friends very much do we? Like it's all so implied and I always kinda hated that. We have a few scenes but nothing like Wakaba's.
Exhausted by the fact I can't say I don't want to Ship or maybe I don't want these characters to be romantic, subtext people see aside, because for me I am seeing this piece of entertainment as validation for what I am. And sorry, I don't really...see the argument when people say 'theres tons of media with friends only' can I have some examples? I bet you they're either Shitty or again have a Romance Thread OR the general consensus is that the two platonic partners in the piece are in fact romantically involved and to say anything else is Bad. Why can't I say 'I see these characters as platonic' exist? Why is it so demonized? Why does every fandom have to be Ships. I like a few ships, I enjoy some even! (I enjoy playing fucking life sim games where the focus is on DATING! I like Dating Sims!) But I hate when that's the focus I hate that shit has to "evolve" into romance.
I know its like 'lol they were "close friends"' is a joke made by us to say how real LGBT peoples' lives are made out to be straight only but like fam. What if they are? What if they are platonic? And I hate more when ace/aro folks defend things like this we get called homophobic. Of course its bad to straighten out relationships. But like, we don't Know do we and it's not great to assign shit to dead people. Why do we have to fight why can't it exist why do other LGBT+ people act like we're the devil and/or act like we're fucking children. god fucking shit fuck you know?
Like, im not saying dating games or romance options (like BG3) are bad! Im not even asking for platonic options! Have sex in youre games and media. I just wish out Cultural Perception wasn't so romance as the final destination + I wish fandom spaces, where we all Like The Same Thing were more open to and accepting of Platonic HCs. And none of ur valid + ignore bs i still want to discuss things from my POV dont just ignore me.
My audience- who im talking to - also shapes what I talk about. I feel really awkward and out if place talking about Raiden in MGS groups because I Am Not Normal, even by their standards. I also just find it so personal to talk about, its very much a vulnerable part of me that hurts when people make fun of or belittle it. I know its weird, so I try to not talk about it. I also don't feel super welcome in ace/aro spaces because many take things more seriously than I do and dobt even like joke ships or casual conversations about such + many come off as puritan even though I know that isn't their meaning. We have a hard time expressing what we'd like to see without being written off as puritans or homophobic or childish.
WATCHING MOVIES AND READING AND PARTICIPATING IN FANDOM SPACES IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN CAN WE JUST. STOP THE BICKERING ITS REALLY HARSHING MY MOOD.
