What are you currently playing?

Post by Lukrietz »

Simply write what you're currently playing, maybe write a bit about the game and what you think of it!

I have a ton on my "currently playing" list, but right now I'm focusing on Moon: Remix RPG and Soul Hackers 2, the latter of which just came out.

Moon is very surreal and one of the first "anti-rpgs", influencing the likes of Undertale. The "RPG" in the title is kind of misleading as it plays as more of an... adventure game, I'd say? There's no battles (so far at least), and you don't have any stats aside from your "LOVE level". You explore the world, talk to people, solve various issues they might have, and that way you increase your LOVE. The more LOVE you have, the longer you can stay awake and explore the world - you see, the game has a day cycle and the characters in the game do different things depending on the day of the week and the time of day. It was a bit rough at the beginning as I didn't understand why my character was walking more sluggishly as he ran out of LOVE, and it led to me getting a game over a couple of times and losing progress, as you save by going to bed. The game is old and doesn't explain these things, so I had to look up a manual online and that is my tip for anyone who's interested in the game. Aside from the fact that the game doesn't hold your hand with these things, I'm definitely enjoying it and trying not to look things up unless I'm really stuck.

Soul Hackers 2 I got on Friday and have been enjoying so far. The battle system is more simplified compared to its prequel/other SMT games, especially since they removed the Press Turn mechanic; Hit enemy weakness -> Gain additional turn, same goes for your enemies, and if you null/drain/repel etc or miss you lose a turn (with variations depending on the game). I've also read that battles eventually get really trivial.
But I'm really liking the characters so far, the story I can't comment much on yet as I'm still early in the game, and I like the references I've seen to previous Devil Summoner games as well. The characters/world is the highlight so far for me.

By the way, a site recommendation: https://backloggery.com/
It's a site where you keep track of your backlog and what you're playing currently. My name is the same there as here, so if anyone's interested send me a friend request! :bouncy:

Currently playing Rune Factory 5 and that new Kirby game!
Rune Factory 5 just being a fun farming sim, I have fun thinking about scenarios between my player character and the spouse Ive chosen in the save file, Reinhard, as I've beaten the main story and sort of just wait for us to have our first kid.
Once my Steam Deck gets here I'm going to replay Metal Gear Rising and hopefully continue End of Eternity/Resonance of Fate, a hybrid action/turnbased RPG where characters use guns. Its lore is super intriguing to me and Im really excited to continue it. :bouncy:

Hmmmmm, I just bought a gaming laptop so i'm back into playing The Sims 4, I finally am playing Age of Empires IV and also my husband got me into playing Farming Simulator with him online lmao. The new Disney Dreamlight Valley just came out so I might give that a shot. I'm just trying to pass time until November when new Pokemon games come out xD

The Sims 4 I have phases of playing but I really do love it. I'm mostly obsessed with just creating the sim like making them with my OCs lmao. But sometimes I'll actually buckle down and play it, I just got the vampire expansion pack so I'm having lots of fun with that <3

Age of Empires is a super old game i used to play when i was younger and they just released the 4th one last year i think. Anyway I love it, I'm not sure how to explain it, you have to build your village and upgrade it and be strong enough to attack your opponent and become victory. It's very like medieval and i really enjoy it...

Farming Simulator is pretty self explanatory, all you do is create a farm and just do whatever you want with your farm for being a lumber jack to being a livestock or grain farmer. It's very silly but tbh i have alot of fun playing it with my husband lmao i wouldn't play it on my own though. Also you kinda need to know how to farm irl to understand what you need to use in the game so that kinda sucks for me but my husband always helps me out lol. I stick to livestock farming.'

The Disney game i havent had a chance to play yet but i watched game play and it seems super chill, and alot of thought was put into it. It's like animal crossing meets stardew valley and there is some plot to it but mostly you get to be your OC and help out all disney characters so thats pretty cool if youre super into disney.

Anyway I'm hyped for the new Pokemon games!!
~i don't know what i'm doing~

Mannn, Klo and I used to play Farming Simulator years ago, and yeah I don't think I'd play it on my own but it's pretty fun to play with a friend or two. We'd do shit like jump our way up a transmission tower in the game which of course you weren't meant to do LOL.

I used to play Age of Empires a lot for a while as a kid too, but I'm not really into real-time strategy games like that anymore, they're kinda stressful for me. So I stick to turn-based.

I've been eyeing Dreamlight Valley but I KNOW I will become hella obsessed if I do get it. I've also heard it's gonna be Free to play when it exits early access? Which probably means micro-transactions, so I'm a bit wary...

Speaking of though, I've been playing Stardew Valley quite a bit again. It's always a game I can play when feeling down and feel better afterwards. Of course it's also a dangerous game for me to play because it's hard to stop...

I've also played and beaten one of the routes in Triangle Strategy recently, but I might make a separate topic for that.

I bought Disney Dreamlight because it was cheaper than expected; it feels 100% like a game that will either have a bunch of cool expansions...or it'll ask ne for more money and im out.
As it is, it feels a lot like a better Animal Crossing, in some ways. But its crashed multiple times for me, disappointingly- maybe a switch issue?

I've picked Elden Ring back up and the game's always been gorgeous, but with my new monitor it's even better. I still have not beaten the game once even though I have over 100 hours in it.

I recently beat the .hack IMOQ games, and started up the first .hack//GU game. I haven't played much of it but I'm very excited to get into it. The older .hack games have a certain rough charm to them, but GU definitely seems more streamlined and less filled with bullshit... although I might come to eat my words. I wish we could get a new .hack game so bad... if they ever make a new MMO I will force all y'all to play it with me. Btw, there's a remake for GU that's been out for a few years now, everyone should buy it so the chance that they remake/make new games increases. :3
